thanks Gail - I know! There’s always someone trying to make empathy the problem, but calling it a sin felt especially harsh. The claim is that empathy makes us blind to right and wrong—but real empathy doesn’t work that way. We can care about people and still hold firm boundaries. It’s not all or nothing.
Love this so much. Especially the part about the 3.5% rule! It makes me think of the quote from Margaret Mead (?), “Never underestimate the power of a small group of committed people to change the world. In fact, it is the only thing that ever has.”
